...seems like quite a few people like and use 'Fiddler' for their http-related tasks,
so I thought I'd make a thread/list with freeware tools,
that provide similar functionality and that don't depend to .NET framework...
ie.that could be used in a 'portable' mode,or say under *nix as well...

Unfortunately,due to...electricity problems,  >:(
I haven't actually been more than an hour at my home this whole week...
thereby,I won't be able to mention them all at once... :(
Expect me to list/supply more later during this weekend,
especially dedicated *nix stuff, and also perl/python-based and the like...

Under Java (open source)...
http://portswigger.net/suite/
http://www.parosproxy.org/index.shtml
http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Category:OWASP_WebScarab_Project

Under Delphi (open source)...
http://sourceforge.net/projects/httpbot

Under Delphi (freeware)...
Syhunt's 'Sandcat' freeware standard edition,
also includes a 'Request Editor' and a 'Request Viewer'...
http://www.syhunt.com/?section=sandcat

Under MFC (freeware)...
http://www.bindshell.net/tools/odysseus
And it's companion also:
http://www.bindshell.net/tools/telemachus

Under Perl (open source)...
http://snark.sourceforge.net/

Microsoft had also released in the past a very nice proof-of-concept tool,
that didn't depend on .NET,it was called 'Web Proxy Editor'...
Don't know if they abandoned it in favor of Fiddler...

http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/companion/0-7356-2187-X/

And I've just stubled upon a very extensive list of such tools in OWASP's wiki pages...  :)

...speaking of 'Snark' and 'Odysseus' above...
from the same authors come the following tools also, useful for encoding/decoding tasks...

Morf (Perl,open source...):
http://sourceforge.net/projects/morf/
Perl2exe binary as well,for dedicated win32 users...
http://www.ioactive.com/tools.html

Coder (for win32 - freeware):
http://www.bindshell.net/tools/coder

The following guys as well offer a freeware win32-based decoder,
called Crazy Decoder...
http://www.open-labs.org/

Personally, from all the above,I've always preferred Morf, your mileage may very...

...home sweet home...and I finally started digging stuff around here, mainly meant for *nix systems...
For dedicated win32 users/.exe freaks...there are also semi-'standalone' binaries provided,but well,
since it's been quite a while since...you should expect a few slight glitches... :)

httpdbg (for *nix systems - under C):
http://www.reitshamer.com/technology/httpdbg.html

Cygwin build:
http://rapidshare.com/files/99718325/httpdbg_0.8.rar.html
Alternatively...

===================

Web Scraping Proxy (under Perl, works under both win32/*nix):
http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/wsp/
(Make sure you read the licence)

Perl2exe binary as well...
http://rapidshare.com/files/99722598/Web_Scraping_Proxy_2.rar.html
Alternatively...
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=13S4YC6J

===================

TCPWatch (under Python,both win32/*nix):
http://hathawaymix.org/Software/TCPWatch
Excellent tool...take a note that it can operate under both cli (default) and gui mode  :)
Check either the source or simply the cli parameters for more...

Py2Exe binary...

...he-he,the more I dig stuff here, the more memories that come to mind...
anyone remembers deny.de?  ;D 8)

Not an http requests' interceptor per se,still though,
I thought it worths the effort mentioning...this Delphi-written app, called 'Judas',
still remains in my toolbox as a really nifty tool for quick examination of html pages...

Under the context of (somewhat) similar apps,
someone might also want to have a look at WebSleuth...

Older versions of it used to be free,if anyone needs/wants them...
